The beginning of the free
spin. Gent leads with his left
hand.

The couples "catches" with
a handshake hold(right
hand to right hand.

...kick and...

Pull through.

Just prior to reassuming
closed position

For the leader: He does the first 6 counts of the basic footwork and then on 7, when he holds with his right foot, he slides the follower’s left foot out slightly to his right. On 8, he steps with his right foot. Continuing in counts of 8, the leader tucks the follower out into a free spin as followers: on 1,2 he does a rock step, left right, and he pivots the follower to do a rock step with his right hand and gently pushes or opens up the follower with his left hand.. On 3, he does a hold with his left foot, holds out his left hand flat against the follower’s right hand, and pushes to indicate a free spin. On 4, he steps with his left foot as the follower turns clockwise. On 5, steps in place with his right foot. On 6, he steps in place with his left foot. On 7, he kicks toward the ground in the direction of the follower and catches the follower’s right hand with his right hand. There should be a counter balance sping at this point in the leader’s left hand as the follower reaches the end of her line. On 8, he steps forward and pulls and releases the follower with his right hand leading her to travel forward and turn counterclockwise. From here, just like the throw out, the leader does a come around turn clockwise around the follower as she turns counterclockwise. The leader should grab hold of the follower on the third step and and complete the connection on the hold of count 4.

For the follower: she does the first 6 counts of the basic footwork and then on 7, when she holds with her left foot, her left foot is pushed to her left by the leader’s foot. On 8, she steps with her left foot. Continuing in counts of eight, the follower is tucked out into a free spin as follows: on 1,2 she is led into a rock step, right left. On 3, she does a hold with her right foot and her right hand goes flat against the leader’s flat left hand as she is pushed back into a clockwise free spin. On 4, she steps with her right foot turning clockwise. On 5, she steps with her left foot turning clockwise. On 6, she steps with her right foot turning clockwise. On 7, she turns slightly clockwise away from the leader and kicks to her right with her left foot. The follower’s turning away from the leader slightly should create a wind up for counter balance connection. On 8, the follower turns counterclockwise and steps toward the leader with her left foot. Continuing in counts of 8, on 1, just like the throw out, she steps with her right foot turning counterclockwise. On 2, she steps with her left foot turning counterclockwise. On 3, she steps with her right foot turning counter clockwise and reconnects with the leader. On 4, she holds with her right foot and allows connection with the leader to turn her clockwise on her left foot.
