which is both felt and seenWalking back is best described as exact reversal of movements in a forward walk. Legs move first and torso follows. Keep the legs straight extending all the way from your ribs (not hips) for maximum extension, while keeping the torso as vertical as possible. Land on the ball of your feet and roll out to your heels. Do not stay on tip toes during the transition. For his reason it is advantageous for the followers (feet permitting) to wear high heels. Practice this with help of a leader in practice hold (hands to the other's biceps). React to the forward intention of the leader by extending back your free leg first and then let the torso follow.
