2b. The simplest transition, from closed to open position

The lead out of the closed position is signalled by the gentleman's right hand. He applies slight pressure on the lady's back while at the same time pulling slightly on her right hand and stepping back.

The next two moves demonstrate jazzier exits from the closed position.
