5a. Toe - Heel - Cross

If the followers are not familiar with the moves in this chapter, there is slim chance that they could be led to do them.

Palms forward is the cue
for toe-heel-cross

The hips turn but the upper
body stays facing the other

Because the lady has to step on the first count, just prior to the first count, Bob changes the left hand to the palms forward position (left photo). If the follower is familiar with the palms forward lead, she will know "Oh, it's the toe-heel cross."

Note that Bob and Eva continue to face each other even on the cross-step. So, the hips turn away from the partner, but the upper body (ribcage and up) remains facing.
