5i. Side Shuffles

The count is extended to 6 counts (instead of 4) before the back step (8 counts in all). Optionally, it could be extended by any even number by the gent. The lady could be signalled to backstep by a slight pressure on her hand as well as the gent's discontinuance of the shuffle. The hand pressure is not a specific lead but it signals the lady that something different is about to happen, and in this case the lady has to be wondering when the side shuffle is going to end. So the pressure signals her "Now!". It is quite useful in a variety of moves.
