7a. Throw 'er

If you can't lift a piano, don't try the moves in this chapter! As indicated by the Chapter title, "Moves for the Spry and Nimble", these moves are for persons in excellent physical shape only, and even they should be careful.

From closed position, there is a backstep followed by preparatory hop by the lady before the jump. The lift is provided by both the lady's jump and the man's lift.

The lady lands on count 1 and holds until just before the 4th count where both do two quick steps, -- the first just before the 4th count and the other on the 4th count (sometimes referred to as the "bah-dah" or "and-4" steps), followed as always by the backstep on 5 - 6.

The "freeze" or "hold" after the lady lands is common in swing and looks great. The freeze also provides the practical aspect of allowing the lady to collect herself after landing.
