Helmut: Here the leader does the Suzy Q on 1-2-3-4 and the follower copies on 5-6-7-8.
DT: How many times?
Helmut: Doesn't matter.
Kana: In advanced level, a gentleman may sometimes switch his footwork so that both dance side by side with the same footwork.
DT: Both on 1-2-3-4 you mean instead of alternating?
Kana: Uh-hmm. Or on 5-6-7-8. Since the man is adjusting to the lady, probably it is more correct to say on 5-6-7-8.
DT: How is it done?
Kana: The Suzy Q -- Bring and cross your foot on 1 or 5 in front of the other foot. Keep the cross fairly tight. You are going to swivel on each step. Let that swiveling happen naturally. Keep you knees bent, use your body weight down to the floor. Feel “down to the ground” and heavy. The more you use the floor, the more successful it would be.
Kana: Turn your left hip to right when you step on left foot, and turn your right hip to left when you step on right foot. So, when you are facing your partner, you will be twisting your body to right when you are moving to right, and twisting to left when moving to left.
